This is about a breakthrough — it’s supposed to be spectacularly brazen. And, so, it is: spectacularly brazen, about a breakthrough, the art of colors, about a moment, call it a gestalt, an epiphany.

This painting was started on one very bright, hot, clear and intensely windy remarkable day on Maui. There’s a higher contrast appearance in Hawaii in perception of visible colors — a zealous Technicolor-neon world there, colors are literally just more saturated and sometimes, overwhelmingly present. This painting might just as well have been titled, ‘Relished a Very Bright, Maui, Neon Day’.
